Dr. Sama was born in September 1995. He is currently a PhD holder in Plant Pathology in the Department of Plant Sciences, Faculty of Science, The University of Bamenda, Cameroon, and a Food Science teacher at Government Secondary School Elung-Oku, Cameroon.
He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in 2016 and 2020 respectively from The University of Bamenda. In the same year (2020), he obtained a Secondary School Technical Teacher Diploma (DIPET II) in Home Economics from the Higher Technical Teachers Training College, Bambili, Cameroon. He also teaches at the International University of Jean Paul II, Institute of Bafang, in the departments of Medical Sciences and Nursing Sciences.
His research focuses on food security, plant pathogenic fungi diversity and identification, in vitro control using bio-extracts, biodiversity, and conservation.
Dr. Sama is a member of several scientific organizations including Congo Symposium Frontiers, the African Phytopathology Group, and the British Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP). He received funding from the BSPP Covid-19 fund in 2022 and an Idea Wild equipment grant for conservation projects in 2022.
He has attended both international and national conferences, including the Third International Conference organized by the Cameroon Academy of Young Scientists in Yaoundé, Cameroon; the International Mountain Conference (Austria, virtual, September 2022); and the 29th Annual Conference organized by the Cameroon Bioscience Society.
Dr. Sama is also a holder of a certificate of completion in Research Writing in Science from AuthorAID (May 26, 2022).
He is currently conducting research in plant pathology, aiming to identify cabbage pathogens, meet cabbage production demands, and promote food security in the Western Highlands of Cameroon. He is also co-supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
