Dr. Chia Genevieve Kain

Dr. Chia Genevieve Kain was born on 19 / 01 / 1991 in Nkwen-Bamenda, Cameroon. She obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Science, The University of Bamenda, Cameroon, where she defended her research on “Identification and biocontrol usage of entomopathogenic fungi against potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) aphids in the Western Highlands of Cameroon.”

She obtained her BSc and MSc in Applied Botany in 2014 and 2020 respectively from The University of Bamenda. She is married and a mother of four children.

In 2021, she received a PhD research grant from the British Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP), which supported the start of her research work.

She was awarded third prize for student poster presentations at the American Phytopathological Society – African Division (APS-AD). In 2023, she received a one-year research grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to carry out part of her PhD research in Germany.

Dr. Genevieve is a member of the British Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP) and PROFAESTEM (Promoting Female Academic Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), under the leadership of Prof. Tonjock Rosemary Kinge.
